Govt to explore possibilities to tap tourism potential of Poonch : Tassaduq Mufti | KNO

POONCH, FEBRUARY 18 (KNO) : Minister for Tourism, Tassaduq Mufti today said that government will explore every possibility to harness and tap the tourism potential of Peer-Panchal region with particular focus on promoting pilgrimage, heritage, leisure, and ecotourism in the border district of Poonch. He said that government is contemplating to identify some virgin areas and built required infrastructure in these places besides to enhance and upgrade existing tourist-related facilities in already established tourist places as leading tourist destination.

The Minister said this during his extensive tour of some important places like Nangali Sahib Gurdawara and Sain Mira Bakash shrine at Guntrian. He said pilgrim tourism can be promoted manifold in these places by developing adequate infrastructure to accommodate huge flow of tourist in such places including the shrine of Buddha Amaranth.

Earlier, the Tassaduq Mufti visited Poonch fort, located at heart of the town, to see the further scope of its renovation and beautification. During his visit, he stressed for protection and upkeep of heritage sites. MLA Haveli Shah Mohammad Tantray, DDC Tariq Ahmad Zargar, SSP Rajiv Panday, Director Tourism Bibla Rakhwal, Joint Director Tourism Showket Malik, CEO Tourism PDA Sherazul Malik besides senior officers from police and civil administration accompanied the Minister. Various delegations also met the Minister during his tour and apprised him about various development needs. He assured for timely action in resolving all genuine issues.(KNO)
